About Me
Your psychotherapist, Romulus Chelbegean, PhD, LMFTAlthough my last name seems to have some Armenian roots, I think it might be cooler for you to think of me as: Romulus from Romania. My existence can, indeed, easily be divided into two: my life in Romania, where I was born and raised, and my life in California, where I spent most of my adult years. Back in Eastern Europe, under Communism, I was, mainly, a registered nurse and a Christian minister. Here, in the United States, I have been, mainly, a graduate student, a marriage and family therapist and a university professor. The way I see it, what all these chosen careers have in common is my caring, loving and dedicated commitment to people’s holistic health, wellbeing, growth and development.
By now, I have been married with my high-school sweet-heart for more than forty years. But, since all our kids have blossomed into wonderful independent young adults, ready or not, we had to embrace our own empty-nest crisis with all its bitter-sweet aromas.
Based on my long decades of intentionally being a full-time student, while also maintaining a full-time professional load, I consider myself a life-long learner. But I have always done it with you in mind. I knew there will come a time when I might be called to serve with all my mental, emotional and spiritual capacity, in a panim-el-panim, one-to-one setting.
So, thank you for being here. I will do my best to help fulfill your current needs.
